Skills Day Success Over 40 leaders attended the skills day on the 3rd of November at the 58th Fife headquarters. Margaret Kidd, and her team had produced a wide variety of resources for Beaver /Cub Leaders to use, everyone went away with a pile of free "gizzits" which will no doubt prove very useful when it comes to constructing programmes ... well done to Margaret and her team
The Scottish Executive launched a new publication - ‘Parent Checklist for Youth Activities’ – on 1st October 2002, designed to support good practice with respect to child protection policies and procedures within youth organisations. It sets out 15 questions that parents/guardians might wish to ask of youth organisations (e.g. local Scout Groups) in order to be satisfied that an organisation provides a safe environment for their child. The issues raised relate to standard good practice. Responses to most are supported directly by POR. The Executive intends that the document will be widely available to parents, with distribution being organised through Primary Schools. The document can be viewed on the Scottish Executive’s website at http://www.scotland.gov.uk/library5/education/pcya-00.asp
